How to Post an Event on Culturalyst
Publishing an event adds it to your city's public event calendar. You can create events as either an artist or an organization, save them as drafts, schedule when they go live, and manage everything from your events dashboard.
Click on the video below for a walk-through for posting an event
Step 1: Navigate to Your Events Dashboard
Log in to your Culturalyst account as either an artist or an organization.
Click Events in your side navigation.
Your dashboard shows all upcoming events in the Current Events tab and everything that's already happened in the Past Events tab.
Click Add New in the top right corner. The event form opens from the right side of the screen.
Step 2: Add Your Event Details
Fields marked as required must be completed before you can save. Here's a breakdown of the form:
Cover Photo*: The main image for your event.
Additional Media: Add more images to feature different parts of your event.
Pre-Title, Title, and Subtitle*: The basics of how your event is named and displayed.
Description*: A rich text field — use bullet points, bold, italics, and multiple paragraphs as needed. Every word here becomes searchable across Culturalyst, search engines, and AI search tools, so write it fully.
Event Link: Your ticketing link, or wherever you want to send people for more information.
Accessibility Options: Select any that apply to your event.
Event Types*: Choose one or more from the list. If a type you need is missing, let us know through the chat box in the bottom right corner or at [email protected].
Artistic or Cultural Discipline*: Choose one or more. Click to select, click again to deselect.
Step 3: Set Your Date, Time, and Visibility
Start Date, Start Time, and Time Zone*: When your event begins.
Repeating Event: Mark whether the event recurs. Recurring events are grouped into a series you can manage together or individually.
Publish Date: Schedule when the event goes live. Set a date and the event stays in your dashboard as a draft until then. Leave it blank and you control publishing yourself.
Step 4: Add Location and Ticketing Information
Venue or Address*: Our address book is integrated with Google Places. Start typing a venue name (for example, Dallas Fair Park) and the correct address pre-populates for you.
Phone Number: Optional contact number for the event.
Social Links: Add any social profiles associated with the event.
Price: Set a price, mark the event as free, or choose not to display a price at all.
Additional Payment Information: Any extra details attendees should know before purchasing.
Step 5: Save and Review
Click Save Draft. Your event appears in your events dashboard.
If your event is part of a recurring series, you'll see a small arrow at the bottom of the listing. Click it to expand the series and adjust a single occurrence without changing the rest.
To change the event as a whole, click Edit on the right-hand side and update any field.
Step 6: Publish Your Event
When you're ready, click Publish.
What happens next depends on your community's settings. Each community works with a local arts agency or coalition, and some require approval before events go public. Your event will either be submitted for approval or publish directly.
Watch the status on your dashboard — it updates to Published once your event is live.
Additional Tips
Editing Events: Anything can be changed after publishing. Return to your events dashboard and select the event you want to update.
Write the description for search. Because descriptions are fully indexed, specific details — performer names, venue features, what the experience is actually like — make your event easier to find.
Drafts stay private. An event saved as a draft or scheduled for a future publish date is visible only to you in your dashboard.
Congratulations! You've successfully created and published an event on Culturalyst.
